Spirit of Freedom employs experienced, qualified and professional crew to work on our luxury live-aboard dive vessel operating from Cairns to the Great Barrier Reef and Coral Sea.

Trip Director
Requirements:
- Possess an outgoing, charismatic personality.
- Management skills including leadership, initiative and interpersonal skills.
- PADI OWSI certification with 2 years teaching experience, 100 certifications and 400 dives.
- Nitrox instructor certification with liability insurance.
- Current training in First Aid and Emergency Oxygen Administration.
- Restricted coxswains certification.
- Occupational Health & Safety at Sea (STCW 95 preferred).
- Hospitality experience, 2 years.
- Experience in reef interpretation and underwater photography.
- Foreign language skills (preferred).
Job Description:
- Demonstrate human resource skills.
- Provide hospitality to guests.
- Manage dive staff.
- Reporting and communication.
- Ensure safety of guests and crew.
- Ensure dive equipment used onboard is safe, serviceable and accounted for.
- Manage all dive operations.

Master / Engineer
Requirements:
- Minimum unrestricted USL Master Class 4.
- Minimum USL MED II Engineering.
- Management experience including leadership, initiative and interpersonal skills.
- PADI divemaster with liability insurance (preferred).
- Nitrox certified (preferred).
- Current training in First Aid and Emergency Oxygen Administration.
Job Description:
- Provide quality cruises which adhere to our advertised itineraries.
- Maintain all areas of vessel in excellent seaworthy condition, including maintaining the inventory, storage and order systems for tools and spares.
- Manage all Engineering aspects of vessel including maintenance schedule for all ships machinery and apparatus.
- Demonstrate human resource skills.

- Occupational Health & Safety at Sea (STCW 95).
- Scuba equipment service ticket (US Divers).
Job Description:
- Vessel Duties – Preparation and operation of all lifting and ground tackle, including tender vessels.
- Navigational watches and Engine Room maintenance checks.
- Responsible for maintaining exterior vessel cleanliness.
- Responsible for deck security whilst underway.
- Divemaster Duties – be available for Dive Deck duties as soon as ship duties completed.
- Other Duties – maintain accurate records of all services/work carried out on all vessel running gear by completing entries into maintenance manual.
- Provide hospitality to guests.
Chef
Requirements:
- Professional training and experience in a wide range of cooking.
- Ability to victual galley and work to budget requirements.
- Management and training skills.
- Oversee all Housekeeping areas.
- Attractive easy-going personality to cope with demands from passengers and stress of work.
- Occupational Health & Safety at Sea (STCW 95).
- Current First Aid and Emergency Oxygen Administration.
- Vessel and scuba diving experience an advantage.
Job Description:
- Operate within catering budget, contribute to budgeting and menu planning.
- Order supplies, arrange delivery, check all supplies against invoice and stow supplies.
- Maintain a high standard of hygiene.
- Provide and prepare high quality cuisine, serve meals, wash up after meals.
- Assess and meet passengers culinary needs and wants.
- Supervise and train onboard hosts.
- Provide hospitality to guests.
Host
Requirements:
- Experience in the Hospitality industry.
- Experience in Food & Beverage service.
- Minimum Open Water Diver.
- PADI Divemaster or higher an advantage.

Job Description:
- Assist chef with preparation, serving and clean up of meals.
- Daily cleaning and service of cabins.
- Appearance and presentation of dining and lounge areas.
- Ensure efficient operation of bar.
- Control of linen and laundry.
- Ensure efficient operation of ship shop.
- Meeting the needs of passengers.
- Ensure safety, well being and enjoyment of the passengers.
- Other duties as directed by the Master or Trip Director.
- Additional functions include Deck and Dive duties.
Divermaster / Host
Requirements:
- PADI Divemaster or OW Instructor with liability insurance.
- Nitrox certified (Instructor preferred).
- Experience in the Hospitality industry.
- Outgoing charismatic personality.
- Restricted Coxswain or Recreational Boating Licence.
- Occupational Health & Safety at Sea (STCW 95).
- Current First Aid and Emergency Oxygen Administration.
Job Description:

Dive Instructor
Requirements:
- PADI OW Instructor with liability insurance.
- Nitrox Instructor certification.
- Experience in the Hospitality industry.

- Occupational Health & Safety at Sea (STCW 95).
- Current First Aid and Emergency Oxygen Administration.

Job Description:
- Responsible for Safe Diving Operations.
- Provide additional instruction or supervision to novice divers.
- Provide excellent reef interpretation and guiding services to experienced divers.
- Responsible for the management and maintenance of the dive deck with consideration to Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
- Provide or assist with onboard Photo Services.
- Ensure safety, well being and enjoyment of the passengers.
- Other duties as directed by the Master or Trip Director.
- Additional functions include Deck and Domestic duties.

If you are not an Australian or New Zealand citizen you will require a work permit for Australia.
